Why we exist
There is no shortage of technology coverage. There is a shortage of coverage that finishes the thought.
Most tech media tells you a company raised money, shipped a model, or changed a policy. Fewer publications tell you why the round was structured that way, what the model costs to run at scale, or which businesses the policy quietly makes unviable.
That gap is where we work. We assume you already saw the headline. We are interested in the second question — the one you would ask a well-informed friend over coffee.

The Byte Beam is edited by Amit Govil. Every piece published here goes through him before it goes out, and the editorial judgement on this site is his.
We are a small operation, and we would rather say that plainly than imply a newsroom we do not have. What we can promise is that someone with a name and a reputation stands behind each piece — which is more than an anonymous desk byline offers you.
How we work
We link to primary sources. Filings, papers, transcripts, documentation. If we are describing what a company said, you can go and read what the company said.
We publish corrections openly. When we get something wrong, we say so on the page rather than quietly editing it. A publication that never appears to make mistakes is either not publishing enough or not admitting enough.
Sponsorship never buys coverage. Sponsored content is labelled clearly, at the top of the piece and in the metadata. Our analysis of a company is not for sale, and we tell sponsors that before they sign rather than after.
We say when we do not know. Analysis involves judgement, and judgement can be wrong. Where the evidence supports two readings, we give you both rather than picking the more confident-sounding one.
