If you know something we should be reporting, tell us. We protect our sources, we verify independently, and we don’t publish anything we can’t corroborate.
What makes a useful tip
- Something happening inside a company that affects its customers, employees or investors
- A document, filing or dataset that hasn’t been reported
- A pattern you’re seeing across an industry that the coverage is missing
- A number that doesn’t match what a company is saying publicly
We’re less useful for product announcements and press releases. Those are already being sent to everyone.
How we handle what you send
We read everything. We can’t reply to everything, and silence doesn’t mean we ignored you.
We never name a source without explicit permission. If you ask to stay anonymous, you stay anonymous.
We verify independently before publishing. Your tip is a starting point, not a story. We look for corroboration elsewhere, and we do not name you while doing it.
If we can’t stand it up, we don’t run it. That sometimes means a real story goes unpublished. We think that’s the right trade.
Protecting yourself
Email is not secure, and neither is this form. Both travel unencrypted and both are stored on our servers. Do not use either for material that could cost you your job or worse.
If what you have is sensitive:
- Use a personal account, never your work email. Work email is monitored by your employer and is the single most common way sources get identified.
- Don’t use company hardware or the company network. Both can be logged.
- Tell us before you send documents. We’ll agree a safer route first.
We’d rather you contacted us carefully and slowly than quickly and exposed.
